Dear Fellow Travelers,
The reason why we started Mission Travel Tours is that we have the heart to help people not experience the same frustrating moments we have experienced while traveling. A lot of it had to do with the lack of understanding of the language or culture of the country we were in. But not just that, choosing the right hotel locations, choosing the right guides, knowing the transportation hiccups, etc. What we had found time and time again is that you can study up all you can online before you go, but the truth of the matter is that once you’re on the ground things are not always what you think they will be. That's where we come in, we have built up a team on the ground that knows their country well. This will help eliminate many frustrations. To give you an idea of what we're talking about we shared a few of our experiences with you below.
Transportation
India Rickshaw to Hotel
Our first experience we'd like to share is the time that we arrived in New Delhi and needed to hire a rickshaw to get to our hotel. We thought we agreed upon a price ahead of time until we got to the hotel. The driver began to demand more money and even followed us up into the hotel. He might have been right, but we did not understand what he was saying. The experience itself was embarrassing, but it helped us realize that we need to have a trusted transportation service next time around. But which one? Our transportation team can help you with that, we will take care of everything.
Paris France Taxi Cab
Another transportation nightmare happened when we arrived in Paris, France. We waited for a taxi and when our driver arrived he was rude and very inconsiderate. We tried to be nice to him, but we think he was having a bad day. When we asked him a question, he answered us in a language that wasn't French and drove recklessly all the way to our hotel. If you've ever been to New York and ridden in a taxi there, you know it can be a bit crazy, but this experience was worse. Why chance starting your vacation off this way? We can assure you to have a driver that is kind, understanding, and safe!
Picking the right Hotel Location
We arrived in Lima, Peru as our first stop in our Gateway to Amazon Tour, and found that our hotel was not what it had seemed to be as it was posted online. Not only was it dirty, but it was also in a dark alley, off the beaten track. When we searched online it did not appear to be this way, but when we arrived we realized we were not at all in a good location. We have heard many stories about this happening often to travelers. How are you supposed to know what is a good hotel location or not if you've never been to that location? Sure some of these online hotel providers do their best to help you, but trust me, having someone there on the ground that knows best is much better than seeing it online. We place our travelers in safe hotels in the heart of the activities.
Custom Itineraries
We went on this budget group tour with about 40 people to save money and we quickly realized this tour was limited to what we really wanted to do. This picture was taken when we realized this isn't for us. We found that group tours only take you to touristy trap places and never go off the beaten path. We had little to no freedom to go to different locations and were on a tight schedule. Sure the trip was nice. Don’t get us wrong we were blessed. But we definitely felt like it would have been better if we paid a little more for a private tour. Now, we only go private and see so much more and experience the culture in a much more real authentic way. Let us help you build your next private tour itinerary. Unless you're going with your church to the Holy Land, than group tour is better that way. We offer those as well.
Having the right Tour Guide
Having the right tour guide is essential to having an amazing vacation. This picture is of one of our guides in Rome, her name is Valentina, and she is amazing! But we have also experienced tour guides that have not always been the best. For example, we had a tour guide go with us to tour the Vatican in Rome. She was passionate about her job, but she left us without learning a lot. She mumbled her words, she was hard to understand, and then passed over a lot of things we wanted to see. Sure not everyone will be exactly what you expect, but let’s face it, a lot of them should never be giving tours. We want our travelers to feel safe knowing that our tour guides all have great reviews and have been vetted by us to bring smiles to their faces. Some of our tours have the guide with you the whole time, while other tours have different guides at different locations. Rest assured, the guide you get will know their stuff and lead you on a fantastic journey!
Tour Drivers
Most of our tours have tour drivers that take our travelers to the locations they are visiting. This allows our travelers to not have to worry about anything, they just have to enjoy the ride. We have traveled before by renting a car, but on one particular tour, it wasn’t the best experience. We had to pay for tolls, the GPS didn’t work properly and when we arrived at many of the locations, there was no parking whatsoever. That is why we feel it's best to have us take the headache away from you by offering our drivers to you. The cost difference is minimal and who doesn't like having someone drive them around all day. Let us bless you with a driver, you just sit back and relax and enjoy the scenery.
